Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday night. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
Joshua had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his management team stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
βThe boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,β the official remarked.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.β
