The New England Patriots equaled their best victory streak from the Brady era as they defeated division opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three touchdowns as the New England squad notched an eighth straight win for the initial occasion since iconic QB Brady's closing campaign with the team in 2019
Signal-caller Maye accumulated 281 yards and a score, completing 25 of 34 passes
The triumph increases the New England's advantage at the summit of the division as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the Jets bottom after falling to two wins and eight losses
The opposing team had taken the lead at Foxborough with quarterback Justin Fields running in a short rushing score to cap the New York's initial series
But the Patriots fought back in the second quarter as Henderson scored two seven-yard TDs before the ball carrier caught a pass from Drake Maye at the back of the endzone halfway into the third quarter to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"That was a crucial moment for him stepping up, and it's been great for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback said of the rookie. "He desires to be outstanding."
Fields connected with John Metchie in the latter part of the third period to narrow the deficit for the Jets but Andy Borregales booted a two kicks in the fourth quarter as the Patriots sealed the victory
